Developed as a waterproof roll-top backpack with shoulder straps, the Splash 15 is ideal for water sports, leisure, or as a second backpack in your luggage. With the weight of a bar of chocolate, it is ultra-light and can be stowed away to save space.
The minimalist shoulder straps are fixed in the centre of the back section with a Velcro fastener. By pulling out the shoulder straps on one side, the Splash can easily be transformed into a practical shoulder bag. An integrated carrying handle and the bright interior colour make handling easier and ensure a good overview. The roll-top fastener also allows easy compression of the contents.
The recycled material is PU-coated and the seams are seam-taped. This makes the Splash completely waterproof.
Our Verdict
The Exped Splash 15 Rucksack is built around simplicity. At just 107g, it packs down small enough to disappear into a larger pack or travel bag, yet still offers enough capacity for day walks, sightseeing and everyday errands. The 2026 update improves comfort with a revised harness and back panel, while the additional external storage makes water bottles and spare layers easier to access.
What I particularly like is its flexibility. It works well as a lightweight hiking pack, but it also makes sense for travel, commuting and general day-to-day use. The waterproof construction means it can double as a dry bag for transporting a sleeping bag or spare clothing into camp before being used as a daypack once you've arrived.
The lightweight build naturally limits how much weight you'll want to carry, but that feels entirely in keeping with the design. For travel, day walks and lightweight adventures, it is a thoughtfully refined pack.
