The ultra-light and 100% waterproof Cloudburst is the ideal mix of waterproof single-chamber pack sack and lightweight backpack – ideal for water sports, day trips, leisure, or as a second rucksack in your luggage.
The front elasticated shock cord holder ensures a compact pack size and offers attachment options for a helmet or jacket. A carrying handle and a bright interior colour ensure easy handling and a good overview. The contents can also be easily compressed thanks to the roll-top closure.
A lightweight EVA back padding, breathable mesh shoulder straps, and a removable hip belt strap ensure carrying comfort. The recycled, PU-coated material and seam-taped seams make the Cloudburst completely waterproof.
Our Verdict
The Exped Cloudburst 25 feels less like a traditional hiking pack and more like a lightweight waterproof storage system that happens to carry surprisingly well. At 284g, it remains firmly minimalist, yet the EVA back panel and broad mesh shoulder straps provide noticeably more comfort than many roll-top dry bag designs.
One of the strongest aspects of the Cloudburst design is its flexibility. It works well as a hiking daypack, but feels equally at home on a canoe trip or mountain bike ride. It can even double as a dry bag for transporting spare clothing or a sleeping bag into camp before being pressed into service as a lightweight pack for day walks.
The fully seam-taped construction and 7000mm PU-coated fabric deliver genuine waterproof protection, while details such as the white interior coating and front shock cord improve usability without adding unnecessary complexity.
For day hikes, paddling trips and travel where low weight and weather protection matter most, it strikes a well-judged balance between packability and practicality.
