Montane Respond Dry Line Gloves Review - ''Combining PrimaLoft insulation, a Pertex outer and a brushed micro fleece lining makes these gloves ideal for long days in cold conditions.''

Comfort and Warmth Wrapped up in one lightweight package.

Heading out on be it a day hike or a multi-day trek, gloves are something that can be easily overlooked. I myself, have fell foul of this oversight. Keeping your hands warm is rather important, but in cold and damp climates it makes this task especially difficult. A good pair of gloves can make or break a day out.

With snow and cold weather finally appearing after a mild winter I took the opportunity to get out and put the Montane Respond Dry Line Gloves to the test. (Spoilers. These gloves are one, if not ARE, the comfiest and most practical gloves I have ever worn!)

Packability & Weight

These gloves come in at an incredible 65g (per medium pair) how Montane managed to get them this light and practical is seriously impressive. Also, they can be packed down to a reasonable size. So, if you have even a small pocket or a slither of space in your pack, these gloves are sure to fit.

In addition, a stuff sack is included. Now gloves have the tendency to get lost. They are visible in your bag or firmly in your pocket one minute and the next. Poof. Gone (or one glove in my experience). The Montane Respond Dry Line Glove comes with a handy stuff sack allowing for an easy and secure way of storing them when not in use.

Insulation & Useability

Combining PrimaLoft insulation, a Pertex outer and a brushed micro fleece lining makes these gloves ideal for long days in cold conditions.

Providing not only warmth but wind resistance. While out on short walks or long day hikes, I found my hands nice and toasty even in minus temperatures with strong winds, even shaking off the impromptu shower with ease.

These gloves feature pre-curved fingers while noticeable at first, quickly became natural and made using trekking poles and opening gates for example easy. Adding additional grip and dexterity in comparison to other bulkier insulated gloves I have used in the past. Also, these gloves are touchscreen compatible and surprisingly perform very well! In addition, they also sport elasticated wrists for a snug fit, keeping the warm in and the cold out.

Final Thoughts

If you are looking for a pair of gloves that not only offer comfort but great useability, I cannot recommend the Montane Respond Dry Line Gloves enough. It is seriously impressive how Montane have managed to keep weight down in these gloves and keep, if not improve on comfort.
