Fast hiking trousers with a neater cut
Salewa says:
Follow your rhythm, find your frequency. This softshell pant is a rugged, breathable solution for fast-moving activities and changeable conditions. Its lightweight stretch fabric has a PFAS-free water-repellent finish for light weather protection. With an athletic fit, ergonomic waist, two zipped hand pockets, rear mesh elasticated pocket and reflective details. This version has a regular leg.
Our Verdict
The Salewa Pedroc 5 DST Pants are lightweight softshell trousers for fast hiking, trail runs and high-output hill days. At 250g (Medium), they still feel light, but the 140g/m² Durastretch fabric has a slightly more substantial feel than very minimal summer trousers.
The athletic fit is the key point, while the stretch fabric and gusseted crotch give enough freedom for steep paths and bigger steps. I also like the internally adjustable waistband, as it lets you fine-tune the fit without adding belt bulk under a pack.
The two zipped hand pockets are useful for secure storage, while the rear mesh pocket feels more suited to quick-access items than valuables.
