Succinct Gear Reviews Review - Rab Torque Pants
Posted by Succinct Gear Reviews on Apr 10, 2017
The Torque Pant is known to many as somewhat of a Rab cult classic. It has been around for a number of years now and is sold as a light-weight technical climbing pant made from a softshell fabric (Matrix) which comes in both a highly flexible form used in movement zones and a reinforced fabric used on knees. The combination of materials used in the Torque Pant results in a highly flexible yet dura

UOG Review - Marmot Limatour Pants
Posted by Mark Richardson on Feb 27, 2017
I've used these on a few trips now and can say that they are a comfortable and durable option; perhaps more suited to adventure travel than a pure backpacking trip but you won't be disappointed using them for either. The first thing I like is the fabric - its very lightweight and extremely stretchy, thin and therefore highly breathable. This makes the Limantour pants ideal for trips to warm climat

Cairngorm Treks Review - Marmot Limantour Pants

Used
extensively by Cairngorm Treks throughout Autumn and Winter 2017/18 within the
Cairngorm National Park, Skye, and surrounding areasThe Montane Limantour Pants promise to be lightweight, versatile and
robust. On first inspection this certainly seems likely, as the subtle stretch
to the fabric immediately suggests that flexibility during use will not be an
issue. They feel light

Cairngorm Treks Review - Marmot Highland Pants

Extensively
tested by Cairngorm Treks guides in the
Highlands of Scotland throughout Autumn and Winter 2017/18Trying to find the right pair of outdoor
trousers to suit all year round use in Scotland can often be very tricky. There
are some great products available but often when you wander away from the main
trails and onto rougher ground, they can frequently let you down. This is by

It was perfect for when the conditions were a little cold and an extra layer was needed, usually around 10°C. H

UOG Review - Outdoor Research Helios Hat
Posted by Mark Richardson on Jul 25, 2016
I recently retired my Sunday Afternoons Solar Bucket in favour of trying something new, the great thing about the Solar Bucket is its wide brim and packablity, so I needed something with at least those two attributes – the Helios hat fits the bill and in fact has a wider brim than my trusty Solar Bucket and as neither hat has a wired brim they can be stuffed into a rucksack witho

UOG Review - Lowe Alpine Caldera Jacket
Posted by Mark Richardson on Jun 13, 2016
I was really keen to try out Lowe Alpine's Caldera jacket because its the lightest hooded softshell jacket that we stock, and weight means a lot to us! I took it for a spin on a Scottish backpack which saw variable conditions that were ideal for testing such a garment.A Softshell is supposed to keep you dry and comfortable on a showery day rather than during a full downpour. Day One of the trek wa

UOG Review - Inov-8 Race Elite 260 Thermoshell
Posted by Mark Richardson on Sep 22, 2014
Selection: I was off to Peru on a high-level trek (above 4000m), which means when the sun is shining it's very warm but when it's cloudy (and at night) it can be unpredictably cold. I was packing a RAB Infinity down jacket as my basecamp warmth but I needed a lightweight insulating layer I could use during the day if it got cold while walking. Primaloft is a leader in garment insulation so it's th
