UOG Review - inov8 Terraultra G 270
Oct 12, 2020
The Terraultra stats read very differently to many of the other inov8 shoes. Although still designed for running on paths and trails the fit and cushioning really stand out. With a wide fit, 12mm midsole stack and zero drop it’s certainly an interesting setup. The extra wide fit and plush levels of cushioning are ideal for running ultra-distances on mixed terrain.
I will admit to bein

Trek Scotland Review - inov8 Roclite Pro G 400
Posted by Trek Scotland on Oct 12, 2020
Having spent most of last summer trekking using the inov8 345 we were excited about the prospect of using the Roclite Pro G 400 for our late autumn and early spring activities. Having found the 345's to be a fantastic lightweight mid-boot for ultralight adventures over dry and rocky ground, once it came to travelling off path through course heather, deep bog and mud, they did begin to show some we

UOG Review - Hoka One One Sky Toa
Posted by Danny Pearson on Oct 14, 2019
After walking Hadrian’s wall in 2019, I found that by day 4 my feet were crying out for something with more cushioning. My boots were soft and light but you could feel every lump and bump through the sole.
We didn’t stock Hoka but the Hoka One One range seemed to offer the cushioning I wanted. I decided to buy a pair of Sky Toa Mid boots to wear on the 2019 TGO Challenge. I now wear Hok

Trek Scotland Review - Haglofs Trail Fuse GT Mens
Posted by Trek Scotland on Oct 15, 2018
The Haglofs Trail Fuse GT is something we were looking forward to trying
out for fast and light days in the hills as it is fundamentally a
lightweight trail walking/running shoe. As with most synthetic shoes,
the Trail Fuse GT can be worn straight out of the box and needs little
to no wearing in. The fit is snug around the heel and allows a little
lift. Towards the toe area the shoe narr

Cairngorm Treks Review - Scarpa Ribelle Lite
Posted by Cairngorm Treks on Sep 10, 2018
Having spent many years looking for the perfect boot for all year use in
the Scottish hills we approached the Scarpa RibelleLite OD with some
excitement as well as being somewhat sceptical about the claims made by
Scarpa. Would they live up to the assertions of being a true 4 season
boot that would be just as comfortable in snow gullies with crampons, as
well as Multi Day Trekking during

Succinct Gear Reviews Review - Inov8 Roclite 315 GTX
Posted by Succinct Gear Reviews on Jun 18, 2018
The Inov8 Roclite 315 is back and with a new extra durable upper. This shoe sits in the upper end of the Inov8 range with regards to weight but it is some way from being a pair of clogs. An ideal option for anyone looking at a trail shoe with a bit more durability whilst keeping elements of the lightweight members of the Inov8 family. With respect to the extensive range of shoes offered by Inov8,

UOG Review - Scarpa Marmolada
Feb 12, 2018
At Ultralight Outdoor Gear we profess the use of lightweight footwear appropriate to the type of activity you are undertaking – the key word there being appropriate – so in choosing footwear for Scotland in April, when there is a chance of winter conditions, it not the absolute lightest footwear that I reached for it was Scarpa’s new offering – their Marmolada Trek boots. As it turned out they were

Cairngorm Treks Review - Scarpa Marmolada Pro OD Boots
Posted by Cairngorm Treks on Jan 22, 2018
Like with all footwear this is an area in which individual choice is important. As everyone is built differently it is best to seek advice in store to the suitability of footwear and use this review as a guideline to the materials and features of the boots. The Scarpa Marmolade Pro OD are a 3/4 season B1 mountain boot. On first appearance the Marmolade Pro have a lot going on with plenty of d
