Rab's been incorporating more and more recycled fabrics into their GORE-TEX jackets. Rab are also phasing out the use of fluorocarbons (PFAS), transitioning to PFAS-free DWRs and GORE-TEX products with an innovative ePE membrane that’s free of fluorocarbons.
Until recently, GORE-TEX Jackets and Pants have been built with ePTFE membranes that contain fluorocarbons. This is a ‘forever chemical’ that doesn’t break down when it enters our natural environment and can accumulate in wildlife and people.
You can find the percentage of recycled material and PFAS content in all our GORE-TEX jackets in the Material Facts table for each product.
As the outdoor industry phases out PFAS, so too will our habits need to change. Fluorocarbon-free DWRs require more maintenance in order to perform at their best, with Regular Washing and Reproofing.

Latok Mountain GORE-TEX Pro Jacket

Integrated RECCO® Reflector
RECCO® technology makes you searchable in an avalanche or outdoor emergency. It is a standard tool for rescue teams and ski patrollers worldwide, who use RECCO® detectors to send out a radar signal that is reflected by the RECCO® reflector in your gear, guiding them to your location. While RECCO® does not replace personal avalanche transceivers, it provides a reliable backup that ensures you're always searchable by professional rescuers.
