Ultrasphere 4.5 Sleeping Mat
When both warmth and low weight are crucial, the award-winning Ultrasphere 4.5 is the ultimate packable, featherlight air mat. Its ground-breaking design includes two layers of heat-reflective TILT, which reduce radiant heat loss, and offset air chambers that trap heat within the construction, allowing you to recharge comfortably without the need for high-volume insulation. Hypersphere Ultra 7.5
Rab's Hypersphere 7.5 Sleeping Mat is a standout choice for fast-moving adventures in harsh, cold environments. It delivers exceptional insulation for winter alpine climbs and arctic expeditions without adding unnecessary bulk.
With a generous 8cm thickness, it offers excellent cushioning, while oversized outer chambers help keep you centred through the night—minimising the risk of rolling off uneven ground. The 800-fill power goose down traps heat efficiently, reducing convection currents and maximising warmth. Inflation is quick and effortless thanks to Rab’s included pump sack, making setup a breeze after a long day on the move.
Exosphere 3.5 Sleeping Mat
If you’re looking for comfort, durability and ease of use, our self-inflating Exosphere 3.5 sleep mat is ideal. Its X-Core™ foam filling is supportive and insulating, ensuring you get a rejuvenating night ready for tomorrow’s adventures. This foam uses X-core technology, which is a 3-dimensional weight relieved structure. This saves weight and reduces pack size, but also traps air to boost warmth and contributes towards the mat's R-value of 3.6, while the rectangular shape supports a range of sleeping positions. The low-profile two-way valve allows for rapid inflation when the weather is threatening, and easy deflation when you’re ready to roll the mat away into its stuff sack.
Stratosphere 4
The mat works well for side sleepers; it’s 8cm and keeps you well off the ground and very well cushioned. Two oversized baffles help keep you on the mat, which is especially good for those of us who toss and turn in our sleep.
The mat is rectangular, which I prefer over mats that taper at the feet; I always find that my legs have slipped off during the night on narrower mats, especially if I'm using a quilt. A rectangular mat will add some weight, but I'll happily carry a few more grams for a good night’s sleep. It’s a nice quiet mat, so you won’t disturb your camp mates tossing and turning during the night.
Stratosphere 5.5
The Rab Stratosphere 5.5 is a premium insulated sleeping pad designed for camping and backpacking in cooler conditions. Utilising high-loft recycled Stratus R insulation, it provides an impressive R-value of 5.5 for reliable warmth from frozen ground.
Despite the high warmth rating, the 5.5 is impressive for such a well-insulated full-length mat. The 8cm thickness offers plush comfort and protection from lumpy surfaces, and it works well for side sleepers.
While the Stratosphere may not be the lightest mat on the market, it compensates with its durable construction and competitive price. Striking the balance between weight and durability is a common challenge in gear selection. It's refreshing to have a well-built option that prioritises robustness as an option.
Hypersphere 9.5
