Our Verdict
Rab's Xenair Alpine Insulated Jacket is Rab's attempt at making a do it all mid layer for cold environments that eliminates the need to constantly remove or add layers.
The new dual density insulation keeps you warm when you stop for a break or stop for a bite to eat, but then starts to breathe once you start moving again - this jacket is best used in cold environments during high output activities such as ski touring or winter climbing.
The hood has an elasticated closure that works well with a helmet and has an adjustable toggle at the back to cinch in the hood when not wearing a helmet.
