The quilt uses thermally-efficient box baffled construction to ensure warmth and comfort in an ultralight package. Designed with high-quality materials and Therm-a-Rest performance features, a snap neck closure, perimeter side baffles and an insulated footbox provide warmth and comfort in the backcountry. When compared to sleeping bags, the Vesper quilts save weight and pack smaller by utilizing the warmth of your insulated mattress.
Our Verdict
The Vesper 32F uses 900-fill-power hydrophobic goose down with a 240g fill to deliver an excellent warmth-to-weight ratio, weighing 459g. This high fill power is a key strength, allowing the quilt to pack down exceptionally small while still providing reliable insulation for summer and mild shoulder-season conditions. The comfort limit of around 0°C feels realistic when paired with an appropriate mat, though it is best used within that range rather than pushed into colder conditions.
The quilt design facilitates unrestricted sleep, allowing easy movement in camp without the constraints of a traditional mummy bag. Box wall construction helps the down loft effectively, reducing cold spots and maintaining consistent insulation across the quilt. The shaped footbox adds real warmth, enclosing the feet and improving overall thermal efficiency.
