Our Verdict
I think the Ultra Raptor 3 Mid GTX successfully bridges the gap between a robust trail runner and a traditional hiking boot. The updated midsole feels more supportive than earlier versions, while the wider platform improves stability without losing the agile character that made the Ultra Raptor popular in the first place.
The secure heel hold, protective rand and integrated gaiter all contribute to confidence on rough, rocky terrain. At 407g per boot (UK 8), it remains relatively light for a GORE-TEX waterproof mid.
Grip is generally strong on mixed mountain terrain, although it is less convincing on very wet rock and deep mud.
