Our Verdict
The La Sportiva TX4 Evo Mid GTX is an incredibly rugged and capable hiking shoe for tackling the most challenging trails and approaches. With a waterproof and breathable Gore-Tex membrane, your feet will stay dry even on soggy terrain. Combining a climbing-inspired lacing system and suede leather upper gives you a precision fit with a durable outer. Underfoot, the rugged Vibram Megagrip outsole provides amazing traction on wet rocks and muddy paths. The patented Impact Brake System helps with security on steep descents. A roomy toe box and sticky rubber climbing zone at the front make the TX4 Evo GTX ideal for scrambling over boulders and short pitches.
The TX4 Evo Mid GTX shines in terms of durability and resolability ( a word I may have just invented). Protective rubber rands shield the upper from abrasions. The ingenious Resole Platform allows you to completely resole the shoe with original La Sportiva components when the lugs finally wear down after miles on the trail. La Sportiva has also incorporated recycled materials into the laces, mesh tongue, EVA midsole and footbed to reduce environmental impact.
When laced up, these boots provide a secure, precise, and protective fit, yet they are comfortable enough for all-day wear in mountainous terrain.
