Our Verdict
At 253g (UK 12), the Montane Women’s Ineo Shorts stand out for the fit, especially the deep, high waistband, which provides a supportive, secure feel without the need for a bulky belt. The MALA Stretch fabric has plenty of give for steep steps and fast movement, but it also offers more wind and light-weather resistance than everyday shorts.
I like the updated patch pocket for quick access to essentials. The trim fit will not suit everyone, and they offer less coverage than the full tights, but they make a lot of sense for walkers who like close-fitting shorts and want more protection.
