Our Verdict
The Alpine Mission Gore-Tex Gloves sit firmly in Montane’s technical winter range and feel built for prolonged exposure to cold, wet conditions. The fit is close and secure, and the articulated fingers reduce strain when holding tools or managing ropes for extended periods. Full goat leather across the palm and fingers provides a confident grip and shows good resistance to wear, while the gauntlet cuff and wrist-adjustment seal effectively over layers.
Insulation levels are high without the gloves feeling excessively clumsy, and breathability is what I expect from Gore-Tex in this category, keeping hands comfortable during steady movement. The internal lining feels soft against the skin and remains comfortable during prolonged use. At 256 g for a Medium pair, these are reassuringly substantial gloves aimed at cold mountain environments rather than lightweight versatility.
