Our Verdict
At 158g (Medium), the Rab Momentum 9" Shorts feel light without being flimsy, with enough stretch in the Matrix fabric for steep ground, scrambling and fast walking. The pull-on waistband is a real strength under a pack hipbelt, as there is no button or belt hardware to dig in.
Ventilation is well handled, with laser-cut holes at the rear yoke and through the hand pockets helping dump heat on warm climbs. Storage is intentionally simple: two open hand pockets and one zipped security pocket, so they suit small essentials rather than heavy pocket carry.
