Our Verdict
Rab's Momentum Pants look like an excellent lightweight and stretchy solution for warm-weather pursuits where breathability and unrestricted mobility are priorities. Made from their Matrix stretch nylon fabric, these minimalist pants are designed to keep you cool and comfortable on the move.
The slim fit combines articulated knees and a gusseted crotch to allow excellent freedom of motion. This mobility-focused patterning makes the Momentums well-suited for hiking, scrambling, and climbing, where you need a full range of movement.
Despite their minimal weight of around 225g (medium), the Matrix fabric provides some weather protection with a fluorocarbon-free DWR finish. Two open-hand pockets and a zippered rear pocket also give you basic storage options.
The simple updated pull-on elastic waistband with drawcord on the inside should keep the fit secure during active use. And the recycled polyester pocket linings add an eco-friendly touch.
While not intended for harsh conditions, the Momentum pants maximise breathability and moisture transfer to keep you drier in milder conditions. The stretchy fabrics enhance comfort and mobility.
