Our Verdict
At 248g (Medium), the Montane Minimus Lite 2.5L Jacket gives proper waterproof protection in a compact, easy-to-carry design. The 40D Pertex Shield fabric keeps the weight low while still feeling more protective than an emergency-only shell, and the trim fit with added articulation helps it move well for running, fast hiking and lightweight backpacking.
The Pivot 1 hood is simple but easy to adjust, with a stiffened peak and single rear pull that makes sense when you want quick protection on the move. I like the zipped chest pocket for keeping small essentials secure without adding the bulk of hand pockets. There are no pit zips, so venting is limited on harder climbs, and the 2.5-layer build also means it is better suited to shorter bursts of bad weather than being worn all day in persistent rain. Best for fast-moving users wanting light, reliable rain protection.
