Our Verdict
The Rab Guide GTX Gloves combine GORE-TEX waterproofing with PrimaLoft Gold insulation to create a glove that’s both protective and responsive. At 175 g (Medium), they feel robust yet balanced, with pre-curved fingers that give a natural grip on poles or tools and help reduce fatigue during prolonged wear. Full-leather palm provides excellent traction and durability, offering solid control when handling ropes or ice axes.
The lining feels soft against the hand and warms quickly, while the short cuff and single-pull closure seal easily under a jacket sleeve. They’re not designed for deep-freeze belays, but for active winter climbing, ski touring, and general alpine work; the warmth-to-dexterity ratio is spot-on. A reliable, well-built glove that delivers consistent performance in challenging cold and wet mountain conditions.
