Our Verdict
The Fusion FLEX 12 is an impressive and highly capable portable solar charger. At t 12 watts, it packs a surprisingly powerful punch in an ultra-compact and lightweight design, weighing only 270 grams. Highly efficient flexible solar cells allow it to rapidly charge devices like smartphones in around 2 hours of sunlight exposure.
Connecting the solar panel to a power bank and allowing it to charge throughout the day is advisable. Then, when setting up camp, you can use the power bank to charge your devices, such as your phone, watch, satellite communication device, etc.
One of the standout features is the charger's extreme durability and resistance to the elements. The flexible solar panels are virtually indestructible thanks to their adaptable nature and scratch/water-resistant ETFE coating. This makes the Fusion FLEX 12 perfect for adventurers needing a solar charger that can handle being stuffed in a backpack, exposed to dust/sand, rained on, or bent without damage.
The intelligent design is also quite impressive. It slips easily into any backpack when folded into its compact A4 size. However, it can also be opened up and hung virtually anywhere using the carabiners and elastic bands included to optimise solar exposure. The four attachment points on the corners allow it to be securely fastened to backpacks, tents, bikes and more.
While not the highest-wattage solar charger available, the Fusion FLEX 12's combination of efficiency, durability, fast charging capability, and portability make it an excellent choice for hiking, camping, cycling, and any other outdoor adventures where compact power is needed. It's an incredibly well-designed and versatile product.
