Inner Description: Adding the protection you need in wet or buggy terrain, this Bug/Floor Insert lets you make the most of summer trips in the ultralight Front Range Tarp Shelter. It includes a durable bathtub floor and a full micromesh canopy for airflow and ventilation. Up top, its cone keeps the rainfly off the mesh to prevent drips from condensation. With room to comfortably sleep 4, this spacious tent body also works as a standalone shelter for small groups on warm-weather missions.
Our Verdict
A classic tepee-style tent/tarp that combines the Front Range Ultralight Tarp and the Front Range Bug/Floor Insert into an all-encompassing, durable, versatile, and crucially incredibly light shelter. This is a huge tent that can sleep four, it is a low enough weight for solo traveller looking for a huge, spacious shelter or for use by groups as a communal space. With a set of pegs and a couple of walking poles, you're good to go. The simple frameless design is easy to use. Access through the zippered door can be made easier by rolling the sides back.
This mesh inner can be set up alone in good conditions, just as the outer tarp can be used on its own if conditions are right and you are looking to save every gram you can. The rain fly naturally sheds rain and snow, with steep angles and if it is well pitched, it can handle pretty poor conditions with ease.
