The Chaser 1 LW tent is designed for the solo outdoor enthusiast seeking a reliable 1-person tent. The versatile FlexPitch system enables you to set up the tent with various configurations - fly only, inner only, or both - providing flexibility according to your needs.Crafted from no-sag HydroTex SilPoly RS with a 2000 mm flysheet and featuring a best-in-class 5000 mm hydrostatic-head floor, it delivers both lightweight packability and uncompromising weatherproofing. HydroTex SilPoly absorbs significantly less water than nylon, so it stays lighter even in wet conditions. Our Verdict
The Robens Chaser 1 LW feels carefully designed for solo backpackers who prioritise low weight and compact packability without sacrificing the reassurance of a full double-wall shelter. At 1099g, it remains competitive for a tunnel tent using DAC poles and a sewn-in groundsheet, while the 38 x 16cm packed size makes particular sense for bikepacking and smaller packs.
The standout feature is the FlexPitch system. The ability to pitch fly-first, inner-only or as a complete shelter gives the tent a level of adaptability that feels well considered rather than simply added for marketing appeal. In UK conditions, the fly-first setup is especially welcome, helping keep the inner dry during wet pitches.
Ventilation also appears very well judged. The mesh-heavy inner, low vent and adjustable flysheet create noticeably more airflow than many lightweight tunnel tents, helping reduce condensation in milder conditions. The trade-off is that the shelter will inevitably feel cooler during colder shoulder-season nights.
The low tunnel profile and modest porch space do place some limits on comfort. This is not a tent designed for long evenings spent sitting upright inside, but the compact dimensions and stable shape feel entirely appropriate for a fast-moving three-season shelter.
For solo backpacking and bikepacking where packed size matters as much as weight, it feels like a thoughtfully balanced design.
