The Outdoor Research Bug XT Bivy is a warm-weather shelter focused on insect protection and ventilation rather than sealing out the weather. For 2026, it gains a double-aluminium pole structure, which noticeably increases headroom and improves stability compared with simpler hoop designs. At 498g including poles, it remains light while offering a far more structured interior than most mesh bivies.
The 40D seam-taped floor provides dependable protection against ground moisture and feels robust on rougher pitches. The double-pole design keeps the mesh off the face and torso, improving comfort when insect pressure is high.
