Steel grip without the clumsy feel of a more aggressive crampon
Grivel says
G10 LT is a lightweight 10-point steel crampon designed for glacier walking and classical mountaineering.
Our Verdict
The Air Tech LT New-Classic Evo hits a very useful middle ground for winter walking and straightforward mountaineering. The shorter 12-point layout keeps it stable and comfortable to walk in, while the horizontal front points give you proper security once the ground steepens.
At 790g per pair, it is relatively light for a full steel crampon, and I like that Grivel has saved weight without moving to aluminium. That makes far more sense for rocky UK winter terrain, where durability and the ability to resharpen the points matter.
The New-Classic strap binding also offers broad boot compatibility, including suitable B1 boots, though it fits a little slower than a heel-lever system. The Antibott plates are another worthwhile detail, helping prevent snow from building beneath the crampon.
