Our Verdict
The Shelterstone Women’s Insulated Jacket is a serious winter piece designed for protection, warmth, and longevity in harsh mountain conditions. It uses 115 g/m² of 100% recycled POLARLOFT insulation, maintaining warmth even in damp weather, paired with a DRILITE Loft 40D shell that is fully windproof, highly water resistant, and treated with a PFAS-free DWR. The combination provides dependable shelter from snow, sleet, and strong winds.
Fit is technical but not restrictive, allowing space for layering beneath or pairing with a shell when required. The fully adjustable Mountain HC insulated hood, Velcro-sealed cuffs, and dual hem drawcords help fine-tune protection and retain heat effectively. Two zipped hand pockets, a chest pocket, and internal security pockets offer generous storage. There is also a large mesh dump pocket for gloves or maps, something I always appreciate, especially in a winter piece. At 593 g (Medium), it strikes a solid balance between durability, warmth, and packability.
