Our Verdict
The Women’s Protium 18 ND is built around a close, stable carry rather than maximum back ventilation. The Air Contour back system uses a semi-rigid panel that supports the load while still flexing with movement, which makes sense for scrambling, rough paths and fuller day loads. At 896g, plus a 68g rain cover, it is not a minimalist 18-litre pack, but the weight brings useful structure, adjustable back length and a supportive hipbelt.
The storage is well judged, with large stretch front and side pockets for quick-access layers, zipped hipbelt pockets for snacks or frequently used items, and internal and external lid pockets for smaller essentials. The 18-litre capacity is best for day hikes, scrambles and shorter hill days where stability, comfort and fit matter most.
