Our Verdict
At 291g (UK12), the Montane Norste Lite 2.5L Jacket gives proper waterproof protection without feeling like a heavy hill shell. The 40D Pertex Shield fabric strikes a good balance for regular walking use, offering enough durability for a pack while keeping the jacket light and easy to carry. For me, the hood is the standout feature. The separate crown and face adjustment, stiffened peak and higher collar make it feel much more protective, while the tailored fit helps the hood move with your head and keeps your vision clear.
The two zipped hand pockets are practical, and the regular fit leaves room for layering. There are no pit zips, so it will not vent as well on hard climbs. Best for walkers wanting a lightweight waterproof for changeable UK hill weather.
