Made for warmth, the Dura XT Hoodie has been designed as the optimum technical mid-layer fleece for cold rugged environments. Providing warmth whilst balancing breathability and protection, the THERMO HLG offers durable, high stretch protection and maximum thermal insulation with the high loft fleece inner that traps warmth whilst letting moisture escape. Double alpine ready chest pockets ensures harness and pack compatible access to storage, whist the under helmet hood and ergonomic fit complete this very warm and comfortable mid-layer.
Our Verdict
The Caldus XT Hoodie 2.0 weighs 429(UK12), and it packs a lot of fleece. The high-loft THERMO HLG fabric traps plenty of warmth, but the open construction still allows heat and moisture to escape when you are moving.
It looks quite casual at first glance, but I think the details make it much more technical than that suggests. The low-profile hood sits neatly beneath a helmet, while the two chest pockets and two hand pockets stay accessible around a pack or harness.
It is bulky and not especially wind-resistant, but for really cold hill days I like the idea of getting this much warmth from a layer I can keep wearing while moving. Paired with a wind shell, it works well on exposed sections or during colder climbs.
