A lightweight, efficient down sleeping bag suited to colder three-season use

The Ultra -5C 20F is an ultra-light 3-season sleeping bag - developed for all those who do not compromise on weight, pack size, and thermal performance. Ideal for trekking, long-distance hiking, mountain tours, or bivouacs, the sleeping bag offers a wide range of uses for adventures from spring through well into autumn.
The high-quality, durable RDS-certified musk duck down ensures efficient insulation and an outstanding warmth-to-weight ratio. The adjustable, elliptical thermal collar minimises heat loss. The specially designed 3D foot box provides additional insulation in the foot area, while the side cover strip along the zip reliably prevents cold bridges.
The outer and inner materials are made from 100% recycled nylon, making the sleeping bag hard-wearing. The Ultra -5C 20F is available in many different sizes for an optimum fit.
Our Verdict
The Ultra -5C 20F uses high-quality duck down with a generous fill to deliver a strong balance of warmth and packability at 840g. This provides an efficient warmth-to-weight ratio, packing down relatively small while offering dependable insulation for conditions from early spring through to late autumn. The comfort limit of around -4°C feels realistic when paired with an appropriate mat, providing enough range for colder nights without venturing into full winter territory.
The mummy cut is shaped for efficiency, with a fairly trim profile that helps retain heat but offers less room for movement than more relaxed designs. A 3/4-length two-way zip keeps weight down while still allowing some ventilation, letting you open the lower section to dump heat while keeping the top closed. The 3D footbox, adjustable hood and thermal collar all help to reduce heat loss.
The lightweight fabrics contribute to a compact pack size, though they benefit from careful use over time. I have the previous version of this bag, and it remains my go-to for early spring use, including on the Pennine Way this March. Overall, this is a well-balanced option for those prioritising low weight and pack efficiency in a capable three-season sleep system.
