A lightweight, efficient down sleeping bag suited to fast and light three-season use
Exped says:
The Ultra sleeping bag line uses first-class materials and high-quality down for uncompromising performance with minimum weight and packing volume.
The Ultra 0 °C 30°F is a feather-light, compact summer sleeping bag - developed for all those who do not want to do without a fully equipped sleeping bag even in warmer conditions—a good choice for trekking, bikepacking, or long-distance hiking in moderate temperatures.
The high-quality, durable RDS-certified musk duck down provides efficient insulation and an outstanding warmth-to-weight ratio. A side draft tube along the zip protects against cold bridges.
The outer and inner materials are made of 100% recycled nylon, making the sleeping bag hard-wearing. The Ultra 0C 30F is available in many different sizes for an optimum fit.
Our Verdict
The Ultra 0C 30F uses 850-fill-power duck down with a 300g fill to deliver a strong balance of warmth and packability at 606g. This high-quality down provides an efficient warmth-to-weight ratio, packing down small while still offering dependable insulation for late spring through to early autumn conditions. The comfort limit of around 1°C feels realistic when paired with an appropriate mat, giving it enough range for cooler nights, though I wouldn't want to push it past that.
The mummy cut is shaped for efficiency, with a fairly trim profile that helps retain heat but offers less room for movement than more relaxed designs. A 3/4-length two-way zip keeps weight down while still allowing some ventilation, letting you open the lower section to dump heat while keeping the top closed. The 3D footbox and adjustable hood help maintain comfort in camp.
The lightweight fabrics contribute to its low weight and compact pack size, though they benefit from careful use. The white finish may not appeal to everyone, but it gives the bag a clean, distinctive look that stands out from more typical darker designs. Overall, this is a well-balanced option for those prioritising low weight and pack efficiency in a streamlined sleep system.
