Reimagined for the Fall & Winter 2016 season, the UL Thermawrap Pants are our cool weather middle layer that excels in mixed conditions. We have retooled this classic ultralight garment with an updated fit, strategically placed stretch fabric and 40 gram stretch Insulation Type. These refinements helped us produce a more fluid, comfortable trouser that layers effectively within your backcountry clothing system. During fabric selection we sought slightly more permeable weaves in an effort to better balance sweater weight warmth with perceived breathability. We believe the accumulation of these marginal gains in performance have allowed us to create a garment with an extended range of comfort and a wider definition of use. Light in weight, quick to dry and the epitome of versatility, the UL Thermawrap Pants really satisfy with all day comfort.
Our Verdict
Montbell's U.L Thermawrap Insulated Pants is a great option for anyone who feels the cold and is looking for an insulated pant that can cope with a range of conditions. Filled with Insulation Type in the form of Stretch Exceloft, these pants balance lightweight materials with comfortable and practical design. This insulation works really well, providing added stretch whilst also keeping you surprisingly warm for the weight and still managing a really good packsize when it's not in use.
They are much more practical than many other insulated pants as they come with a zipper fly, two handwarmer pockets and an elasticated waist with a drawstring for adjustability. They are comfortable to wear against your skin or over a baselayer for added warmth. The materials used are soft and comfortable but also durable enough to withstand use outdoors.
