A very minimalistic, lightweight wind shell with an impressive DWR that helps keep light rain and wind out.

Delivers protection from cold wind and light rain in a lightweight stretchy form, enhancing the versatility of your trail
layering system.
Our Verdict
This is a very stripped-back wind shell that still has a few user-friendly features. The jacket only has two points of adjustment, a draw cord around the hem and a hook and loop adjustment on the back of the hood, which keeps the hood out of your eyes. The cuffs and hood around the face are elasticated, so you get a nice fit but don't get a fit tailored to you.
The jacket has a lot of stretch, so it will move as you do and not constrict. It has two hand pockets which I'm a fan of, as many wind shells neglect to include them, and the jacket can pack away into one of its pockets, so it takes up little room in a pack or running vest.
Montbell has used a good DWR on the jacket; I was impressed with how long the jacket kept the rain at bay; unless you are caught out in a down-poor, the jacket will shrug off most rain.
I'm a medium in most outdoor clothing, I'm 6-foot and have a relatively slim build, and I generally size up in Mont Bell clothing. However, I used the large size in the U.L. Stretch Wind Hoodie and should have stuck to the medium, as it was a little baggy.
