Our Verdict
At 505g and 22 litres, the Rab Tygen 22 is a strong option for longer days out or when carrying bulkier kit. The Air Contour back system does an excellent job of keeping airflow moving, with padded mesh and ventilation channels that limit heat build-up. The pre-curved back panel keeps the load stable, while the removable hipbelt and sternum strap give flexibility in how you secure the pack. I also like the sturdy grab handle, which makes it quick to move the pack when off your back.
Storage is well balanced. The wide-opening zip provides easy access to the main compartment, and the dual-purpose sleeve works equally well for a hydration bladder or a laptop. Side mesh pockets comfortably fit bottles, while the front stash pocket is ideal for layers you want close at hand. Walking pole attachments add hill-walking utility, and side compression straps help keep the load compact and stable when carrying less.
The TriShield-coated nylon fabric feels durable for the weight, resisting scuffs and light rain effectively. Stitching and finish are solid, giving confidence in its long-term use.
