A protective winter glove built for wet, cold mountain conditions.
Berghaus says:
A mountain essential that combines waterproof GORE-TEX protection, insulation and durability.
The waterproof and breathable GORE-TEX membrane delivers excellent protection in all weather. Grippy leather palms and knuckles are supple, with reinforcements for added durability. Customise the fit as you move with easy to use forearm cords.
Our Verdict
The Berghaus Thermaxis GTX Gloves weigh 191g in Medium/Large and combine a Gore-Tex membrane with insulated construction and reinforced goat leather across the palms, knuckles, fingers and thumbs.
For me, that leather reinforcement is the main appeal. It gives the gloves a more secure, durable feel around trekking poles and winter kit, while the Gore-Tex membrane deals with the weather.
I also like the gauntlet-style cuff, with an elasticated wrist and adjustable forearm cord helping to seal things down around a jacket sleeve. The wrist leash is another detail I appreciate, especially when you need to pull a glove off briefly without risking dropping it.
They are not touchscreen compatible, but for me the emphasis here is clearly on protection, grip and winter durability.
