The Silver Shadow Carbon is the crown jewel of hiking umbrellas. A sleek, carbon fiber shaft, spreader and ribs drop the weight of this umbrella to a mere 6.8 oz while maintaining full coverage. Its rigid shaft insures that it won't unexpectedly collapse and its simple construction ensures years of trouble free use. The simple design with minimal parts keeps it light and durable. There's simply fewer things to break or malfunction.

Our Verdict
Six Moon Design's Silver Shadow Carbon Umbrella provides a good amount of coverage from the sun and rain. Although a lot of the design features such as the reflective silver top and black underside are more aimed at sun protection (along with the UPF 50+ rating) this umbrella stands up well to rain too. It's size means that it is susceptible to gusts of wind, on calmer days it is a great piece of kit.
The simple foam handle is comfortable to grip while the umbrella opens and closes with ease. The carbon frame reduces the weight, compared to the standard fibre glass frame by over 50g. For anyone who counts grams more than pounds this is obviously the one to choose.
