A substantial solo shelter built for wet and windy weather
Sea to Summit says:
Liveable. Reliable. Ready
Wind and Weather Performance - Tested to 50+ mph / 80+ km/h winds with a waterproof floor rated to 25,000mm, the Sentinel XP stands firm when others fail. Self-equalising guylines and airfoil overhangs keep it secure when other 3-season tents can’t.
Wet Weather Liveability - Comfortable even when tent-bound for days. Vertical walls, generous volume, lighter interior colours, cross-flow ventilation, big doors, and headroom make it reliably liveable. Dry set-up and takedown ease the hassle in wet climates.
Adaptable to Changing Conditions - Weather shifts fast — your tent should too. Multiple set-ups provide ventilation and protection from sun, bugs, wind, and rain. Roll back the fly to stargaze, switch to hangout mode, or seal tight when storms roll in.
Better Pitch - Green-anodised DAC poles and bluesign APPROVED, recycled Ultra-Sil LS rainfly fabric reduce water absorption, dry fast, and keep a taut, reliable pitch with minimal stretch
Our Verdict
At 1480g, the Sea to Summit Sentinel XP1 is heavier than many modern solo tents, but it feels much more focused on liveability and protection.
The internal space is generous for one, with room for a 64–65cm mat and enough width at the head end for clothing and smaller kit. The steep walls also make the 102cm height feel more usable, while the single vestibule gives plenty of room for a pack and wet gear.
The Ultra-Sil LS fly is designed to stretch less when wet, helping it stay taut, while the 25,000mm floor inspires real confidence on saturated ground.
Protected ventilation helps manage condensation, and although the weight is noticeable, the Sentinel feels much more like a weather-focused mountain shelter than a stripped-back ultralight tent.
