The Ortlieb Seat Pack is a good sized waterproof pack capable of carrying a good amount of kit on your next adventure. As with the rest of the Ortlieb bikepacking range this is a high quality product that is well designed, with a strong durable construction.

The ORTLIEB Seat-Pack 11L is compact and spacious at the same time. Offering a payload of 11 liters, the waterproof seat bag offers a lot of stowage space for sizeable items that are not so heavy such as clothing and personal care items. The inside and bottom of the bag are stiffened, which ensures stability even in bumpy terrain. Thanks to the roll closure, adjustable straps and an additional compression valve, you can reduce your loaded Seat-Pack to an extremely compact size.
Outfitted with highly adhesive Velcro straps, the waterproof Seat-Pack 11L easily attaches to your bicycle saddle rails and seatpost. And given that you only need 6 cm of available space on your seatpost, the Seat-Pack is also ideal for smaller frames, full-suspension MTBs and bikes with dropper seatposts. The attachment to the saddle rails reliably holds the Seat-Pack 11L in the right position, essentially turning it into an effective fender.
Our Verdict
The Ortlieb Seat Pack 11L is obviously a high quality piece of kit. The strong materials used to provide the waterproofing and solid straps illustrate the durability of this pack and the thoughtful design make it really easy to mount onto the seat post. There are other practical features which make this pack a standout such as the easy access chord on top to stow jackets or gear and the compression valve which allows you to get the air out of the pack to make it more compact.
The narrow, tapered design reduces the chances of chafing on longer rides and provides more space between the rear tyre. This verdict involved both hardtail 29er and full suspension mountain bikes and the additional stiffness in the design ensured clearance between pack and tyre across a range of challenging terrains which other brands can fail to deliver.
The Seat Pack comes in two sizes with this version being medium. The adjustment straps mean that it is capable of fitting in a significant amount of kit while being flexible enough to compress down if you're not using the full capacity. This is a great option if you don't need that much space on shorter trips or you want to be able to use it more often than is practical with the large version. However, this is an excellent piece of kit that provides plenty of space and does not limit your adventuring.
