Our Verdict
At 345g (UK 8, per shoe), the Roam WP combines a fairly high stack height with Keen’s QuantumFoam midsole, giving it a well-cushioned feel that should work particularly well on long stretches of hard-packed trail, gravel and road.
The fit is true to size, with plenty of room through the forefoot for your toes to splay without feeling overly loose despite the KEEN.DRY waterproof membrane, I found the upper very breathable, and it dries really quickly when damp.
The 3mm multidirectional lugs aren't as aggressive as those on more technical trail shoes, but that reflects the Roam’s road-to-trail credentials and helps it feel more natural on harder surfaces. The combination of cushioning, roomy fit and mixed-surface outsole makes it a strong option for long-distance paths where the terrain regularly moves between road and trail.
