Ridgeline series poles balance light weight with the strength for trekking, mountain and ski in arduous day trips or week long treks. The Helinox LB135 uses the vertical lever system to adjust the length and a button to secure the third section (LB - Lever Button).

Helinox says

Ridgeline poles are ideal for fast and light expeditions, multi-day backpacking trips, or travel. Lightweight and stiff, they offer stability for those carrying heavy packs, or those looking for a little more strength out of a lightweight pole. The extended-length hand grip offers variation on holding position, and additional adjustability can be achieved by the lever lock. The Lever Lock with button model makes you the collapsed length you would normally only find in a three-section pole possible with the adjustability of a two-section pole. A fixed-length lower shaft that doesn’t require adjustment keeps you fast on the go.

Our Verdict

Helinox's LB135 Ridgeline poles are their mid-weight, mid-range poles for 'week long treks or arduous day trips, mountain, ski and trekking'. So they aren't as light as the passport series, nor do they pack as small, but they are a superb trekking pole - why? Because the external locking mechanism is the easiest I've used, I have no doubt they are extremely tough (because the much lighter Helinox Passport series are tough), and they have a good quality foam grip that's ridged down the shaft for extra grip when you're pulling up a steep incline.

Buy these if weight isn't vital but strength and ease of use is.
