Our Verdict
Rab’s Torque Pants have long been a trusted choice for climbers and mountain hikers needing a balance of durability and flexibility. The latest version refines the fit while maintaining the robust design that makes them ideal for technical terrain.
Made from Rab’s Matrix double-weave softshell fabric, these trousers offer an excellent mix of stretch and abrasion resistance, with reinforced panels at the knees, thighs, and inner ankles for added durability. They are impressively lightweight at 319g (UK 10) while still feeling tough enough to handle rough scrambles and long days in the mountains.
The cut is streamlined without restriction, aided by articulated knees and a gusseted crotch that allows unrestricted movement. The micro-elasticated waistband sits comfortably, but the lack of belt loops might be an issue for those who prefer a more adjustable fit. Two zipped hand pockets, and a rear pocket provide storage, while the zipped hem gusset ensures compatibility with a range of footwear.
