Rab’s Ascendor Hoody is a streamlined, technical midlayer built for demanding movement in cold weather.
Weighing 359 g (UK12), it combines a gridded fleece interior with a smooth outer face that sheds layers easily and resists abrasion. The fit is slim but allows full reach for climbing or scrambling, with an under-helmet hood and long sleeves that stay secure when stretching overhead. The grid structure effectively regulates temperature, retaining warmth while releasing excess heat and moisture during sustained effort. Breathability is excellent, and it remains comfortable under a shell when conditions turn colder.
The build quality feels solid, with flatlocked seams and durable fabrics. For long ascents, fast winter walks and technical routes throughout the year where weight and temperature control matter, the Ascendor Hoody performs as a dependable, low-bulk layer.
