Our Verdict
The Sonic Ultra Zip feels more adaptable than many lightweight hiking layers, largely thanks to the deep front zip. At 122g (Medium), it remains exceptionally light, but the added venting makes a noticeable difference as effort levels rise or conditions change throughout the day.
The Dryflo Air fabric handles sweat efficiently and stays comfortable against the skin, while the low-profile seams help avoid rubbing under a pack or running vest. I also think the slim fit suits the design well, keeping the fabric close enough to the body to work efficiently without feeling restrictive. For fast hiking, mountain running, and warm-weather ascents, it feels very well-focused.
