Our Verdict
The Rab Mountain Cap combines a waterproof Triplepoint shell with a fleece lining and extended ear coverage, offering much better protection from wind, rain, and sleet. The stiffened peak is another practical detail, helping keep weather out of your eyes when conditions turn poor.
At 62g (Medium), it is still very light for something this protective, and the elasticated rear adjustment helps keep it secure in stronger winds.
It can run warm when you are working hard, so I would see it more as a cold-weather mountain cap than something for high-output use. For winter hillwalking, though, the combination of warmth, waterproofing and coverage works very well.
