Our Verdict
The Ascendor Light Pull-On forgoes the more structured Thermic G material of the standard Ascendor Pull-On in favour of the lighter, more open, and more breathable Thermic S fabric. This close-fitting mid-layer allows excellent freedom of movement thanks to its stretchy construction and flatlocked seams, which move smoothly with you when reaching or climbing. The dropped hem provides ample coverage during movement, adding to its practical design.
This is a “put on and leave on” layer that works seamlessly with your baselayer as an outer fleece, wicking moisture away from the skin, or as an insulating mid-layer under a wind shell or rain jacket. It provides impressive warmth for such a thin, lightweight piece. The high collar does a good job of regulating heat, while the quarter-length zip offers effective ventilation when you need to dump excess warmth. A bonded chest pocket adds a touch of storage, though access can be restricted when wearing a large pack.
This is a fantastic go-to layer throughout the year, something you’ll find yourself reaching for again and again, from summer right through to winter. A true year-round piece.
