A hard-wearing winter softshell trouser built for regular mountain use.

Our Verdict
The Tenacity XT has long been one of Montane’s go-to options for mountain durability, and the updated version keeps that character while refining the fit and articulation. At 520g (Medium), the Granite Stretch Thermal fabric feels substantial and protective, while the four-way stretch, articulated patterning and Kevlar-reinforced insteps make sense for winter hillwalking and scrambling.
I also like the updated pocket positioning and zipped lower legs, but I’m less convinced by the integrated belt. I’ve used this belt on a few pairs of Montane trousers, and I still don’t rate it; but without belt loops, you can’t use your own belt, which for me is a definite drawback.
Otherwise, this remains a very solid cold-weather mountain trouser with durability clearly at the forefront.
