Exceptional warmth and full wind protection make this a dependable alpine insulation piece for exposed winter conditions.

Rab says:

Delivering warmth, low weight, and protection against howling winds, the Infinity Windstopper Hoody excels on alpine-style, high-energy ascents in tough conditions. It’s armed with an unbeatable combination of technologies to keep you warm on exposed climbs: high quality 800FP down, interstitch baffle construction to minimise water ingress, and WINDSTOPPER® Product Technology by GORE-TEX LABS to stop the wind in its tracks. Designed to maximise mobility and reinforced for durability, it’s a match for wind-battered vertical ascents and wild Scottish winters.

Our Verdict

The Infinity Windstopper Down Hoody uses 194 g (Medium) of 800 fill-power European goose down in a fully windproof shell. At 651 g (Medium), it offers serious warmth and weather protection for cold mountain use. The Gore Windstopper fabric blocks wind completely and resists light precipitation, though it produces a slight crinkly noise more typical of a hardshell than a down jacket.

Fit is regular, leaving room for layering. The hood has a reinforced peak, a crown adjustment, and a drawcord around the face, though cinching it requires opening the jacket slightly, which feels counter-productive in a winter insulation piece. The hem drawcords adjust easily from both sides, while hook-and-loop cuffs create a secure seal. The two hand pockets are large and well placed, with a single internal dump pocket for gloves or maps. I always look for these in any winter insulation piece.

Warmth retention is excellent in wind-exposed conditions, and the jacket’s robust shell gives it a reassuringly durable feel. Breathability is limited, so it is best suited to static or semi-active use in cold, dry environments where reliable insulation and full wind protection are priorities.
