Our Verdict
At just 31g, the Rab Hurkle Rolled Beanie is a lighter, more breathable take on the traditional beanie. Its close fit keeps bulk to a minimum beneath climbing, cycling and ski helmets, while the rolled edge adds a little extra warmth around the ears and forehead.
The 3D waffle fabric helps spread moisture and dry quickly, which should make it more comfortable than a conventional knitted hat during steep climbs and other high-output activity. It is packable enough to carry as a spare, but the open fabric offers limited wind protection so it works best paired with a hood in very windy conditions.
