Our Verdict
The Vango F10 Ultra 5.5 Sleeping Mat offers a strong mix of warmth and comfort, weighing 569g with an R-value of 5.5. It sits confidently at the colder end of 3-season use, with enough insulation to handle lower temperatures without resorting to heavier winter mats.
At 9cm thick, it feels supportive and stable. The welded baffle construction creates a quilt-like surface that supports you as you move. The quilt-like channels suit side sleepers and provide a steady sleeping surface throughout the night.
The shape tapers slightly, but unlike many mummy mats, it does not significantly reduce the usable sleeping surface. The oversized baffles do not extend all the way down the mat, which makes sense, as your core benefits most from the added support. The 60cm width provides a bit more room to move than narrower designs, which is noticeable when settling in.
The integrated pump is functional, and I can see what they were aiming for by building it into the stuff sack. In practice, the amount of air you can get into the bag is limited; it's a bit of a pain to inflate with the stuff sack. A dedicated pump sack has worked better, so an electric pump is likely the best option
Overall, this is a well-judged option that combines reliable warmth, comfort, and a stable sleeping platform for colder trips on the trail.
