This is by far the lightest wind shell we have. AT just 48g the EX Light Wind Jacket provides a great amount of protection from the wind. Ideal for fast and light adventures.

Our Verdict
Montbell's EX Light Wind Jacket is amazingly lightweight, especially when you consider how much it can protect you from cold winds. Weighing just 48g for the medium size, it packs down to an impressively small size in the integrated stash pocket. Obviously, features are limited as you'd expect for this weight but it does have underarm vents that help massively with breathability when things heat up. This is a huge advantage over many other non-breathable wind shirts.
The 7D fabric does need a bit of care so if you're heading into overgrown vegetation be mindful. The DWR treatment does a good job of shedding light rain and to be honest, unless it's pouring down this jacket could be all you need to take - it certainly is for me. The fit of the jacket is more generous, and less athletic, than expected. For a general outdoors wind shirt it is impressive but there might be a but too much flapping for anyone looking for a slim fitting layer for mountain running for example.
