A well-executed frame bag with solid weather protection and thoughtful details that make on-the-move access easy.

Osprey says:

The Escapist Family allows you to build a comprehensive bikepacking kit to fit you, your bike and how you ride just right. The Escapist Frame Bag features right-side double-ended zippers for easy front or back access while riding and three sizes (Small, Medium, Large) to accommodate a range of frame sizes and shapes.

Measure the internal length of your bike’s top tube and select the Escapist Frame Bag size with the closest length spec. Be sure to select a frame bag that’s shorter than the internal length of your top tube. Depending on your bike, you may also need to consider the height of the frame bag to ensure it will fit with any unique frame geometry, suspension or water bottle cages.

Our Verdict

The Osprey Escapist Frame Bag makes a good first impression. I went with the medium size, which fits snugly under a standard gravel frame's top tube and offers 3.5 litres of usable space. The structure is semi-rigid, so it holds its shape nicely while riding, and I didn’t find it sagging even when fully loaded. I particularly liked the double-ended zip on the right side—it meant I could reach snacks or tools from either end without digging around.

Attachment is via soft hook-and-loop straps that felt secure and didn’t mark my frame. It’s not a fully waterproof bag, but the water resistance has been solid in typical British drizzle. With reflective touches and tidy finishes, it feels like a considered piece of kit rather than an afterthought from a pack brand testing new waters.
