Our Verdict
The EKLIPSE Black Edition 12L stands out because it solves a problem many running vests never quite crack: carrying a substantial amount of kit without making it difficult to reach. At 501g, it is not chasing the lightest-pack crown, but the thoughtful storage layout makes that weight feel justified. The combination of high-mounted flask pockets, accessible rear storage and multiple pole-carry options creates a vest that feels designed around real use.
Instinct is a newer brand to many UK hikers and runners, but the attention to accessibility makes them stand out. The side-lacing system and highly adjustable harness appear to do a good job of keeping loads stable across different body shapes.
The one-size approach may not suit everyone, and the sheer number of pockets and adjustment points can feel overwhelming at first. For ultras, fastpacking and long mountain days where organisation matters, however, this looks like one of the more thoughtfully designed vest packs available.
